It is something to be treasured when another person instills the kind of inspiration within yourself that makes you want to immerse yourself in whatever form of art you subscribe to. This is the best way that I can begin to explain our experience with the beautiful and talented Harmony Arnold. LaRae began the day in her studio which was, of course, magnificent and we were left staring at colors and gowns and hats and all things lovely.
It was in this atmosphere that we got a true taste of her talent and fire for design. A fire that has led her work to be featured Off-Broadway, in large regional theatres, in full-feature films and independent shorts as well as commercial venues. She also holds the terminal degree of Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design from University of Oregon and is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Seattle University. To say she is an asset to this city and the art community in general would be a vast understatement.
It was the next step in the shoot though that really gave a look into Harmony not only as an artist, but as a person. Upon entry into her beautifully decorated home, we were greeted with cheese, crackers and coffee. Her warmth and caring personality could break up the clouds on any cold and rainy day. As an artist and as a person, she is truly an inspiration.
It is a pleasure to share this experience with you, and LaRae asks that you please visit her website at http://harmonyarnold.com/ and read more about Harmony and her work. Thank you!
