Q&A with actor Fawn Ledesma
PhotoSister: When you were young, did you imagine you would be on this particular journey in life? Why or why not?
Fawn Ledesma: When I was 5 I put on a show for my parents in our living room, complete with tea candles as stage lights and an old boom box playing my music cues. I WAS a gypsy belly dancer that fateful night…never stopped touching dance and theatre since.
PS: Who or what inspires you the most in your personal life? And in your professional life?
FL: My mom is crazy cool. For real she IS that gypsy that traveled the world at 21, took care of 3 children, made her own clothing business out of home, and still managed to be ultra creative and inspiring all the time..and still is. In my professional life I’m most inspired by artists who create with fearlessness, passion, and purpose..and have fun in the making. I’m lucky enough to work with some of my heros right now in my life.
PS: What is the one thing you splurge on for yourself?
FL: Foooood. And sweet treats..I have a severe sweet tooth. It doesn’t help that I LOVE to bake. I spend all my money on vegan cupcakes and almond lattes. I also love going out to dinner.
PS: What made you want to do theatre?
FL: My first taste of musical theatre was the infamous ‘Cats’ (when I was 11). I will always have a soft spot for a Jellicle Cat. Then my first experience in a play was ‘The Crucible’…Arthur Miller at 15, need I say more?
PS: Name one play or musical that you would like to perform in your life? What role would you want to play?
FL: Juliet was on my list about a year ago, so I’m thrilled to do be doing this role now. I would love to be in a production of Hamlet and get to know Ophelia as a character…let’s just say in my life right now, realistically young ingenues are on my list…later in my life: the grittier roles 🙂
PS: What do you fear the most?
FL: Self doubt. And my cat Mars. He is a baby marmalade cat and satan all in one.
PS: What’s next on your horizon?
FL: Dorothy Understudy and Ensemble for ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Seattle Children’s Theatre this winter!
