3 Minutes with Steve Brubaker
Photographing Men of MotoAmerica 2015
Steve Brubaker, owner of Dunlop Motorcycle Road Racing Tires
I arrived on the MotoAmerica track at Road America in Sheboygan, WI, with an all-access press pass and set to work introducing myself to as many team owners and crew members that had a moment to chat with me. One of the first to invite me to photograph his team was Steve Brubaker, owner of Race Tire Service, the national distributor for Dunlop Racing Tires.
We had to time my session inside the Dunlop tent to coincide with the races on Sunday. There was a constant stream of people running in buying new tires, switching them out with the old one that had just raced on track, checking the mounting, and running out to get back to outfit their bike for the next round. It was an INTENSE scene, but Steve and his team work together in fluid motion, working quickly and efficiently without missing one single ounce of detail.
In between sessions I had a few moments to capture the crew. When it came time for Steve’s turn, he kept his serious business demeanor until I asked him what he was like off-track. “I’m a really nice and funny guy!”
