Photographing the artists of Boundless Arts Performance Collective

As I near the completion of this 16-month personal photography project journey, I want to ensure that individuals and companies doing  the extraordinary in the Seattle theatre community are represented. With that thought in mind, and my heart leading me to the right people, it is happy gratitude to know two of the most incredible young women in our city.

Meet Zoe Barker-Aderem, Associate Executive Director of Boundless Arts Performance Collective.

I’d like to share her and BAPC’s mission with you:
Boundless Arts Performance Collective (BAPC) is committed to providing an environment in which foster youth can realize their creative potential, build self confidence, and discover their personal strengths. BAPC cultivates a community in which our youth and volunteers can learn and grow together through the performing arts.

And the Vision:
Boundless aims to construct a space in which foster youth can establish a legacy of expression through the performing arts. This legacy will serve as a bridge between generations and communities to perpetuate a discussion of the foster care system and celebrate the power of the individual voice.

Boundless Arts has a new production and I encourage you all to attend it, talk about it and share it on your favorite social media platform. This play is only a 3-day run so be sure to get your tickets/share the info now! All the details are below the image feature below:

The Bridge is Out devised by the BAPC ensemble of youth and tutors

Last year, Boundless Arts Performance Collective presented a play drawing on themes experienced by youth in care. This year, the youth developed the show. The obstacles in this production were developed out of conversations with our youth about problems they may or have faced in their day to day lives, and much of the content from the script has come from them.

The story they wanted to tell was about a young girl, Bianca, building a bridge to her own success. The process was very much discussion based: we supplied the theme of ‘dreams’ and they came up with the dreamworld, Bianca’s journey through it, and how the journey parallels her real life.

We are including stories from Represent! magazine, an organization that parallels our mission in terms of giving foster youth a voice. In this way, we’re advocating for foster youth through performance art, and hope that our audience leaves with a thorough understanding of the obstacles youth in care face, from their perspective and from ours.
