14 Minutes with Colleen Taylor
Photographing the artists of Boundless Arts Performance Collective
Introducing the third feature in the Boundless Arts Performance Collective series here on the Photo Sister blog, Colleen Taylor.
Colleen is a woman deeply involved with caring for foster youth as the Boundless Workshop Leader, teaching after-school theatre and performing arts workshops to kids and teens at Treehouse for Kids.
“On any given day there are 1,300 to 1,500 children in foster care in King County, and about 10,000 children in foster care across the State” – that is a lot of youth that deserve quality education and support from everyone in our community. The information on education for these kids continues on: “Less than half of foster youth graduate high school on time, and fewer than 2% will earn a four-year degree. Treehouse has a plan to ensure that foster youth graduate high school at the same rate as their peers with a plan for their future by 2017.” One of the ways Treehouse accomplishes this is by providing basic needs for the kids and extracurricular activities for kids up to the age of 21. These activities build foster youth with confidence and teach them how to be prepared for school and beyond. [Foster Care Facts – Treehouse for Kids]
Our third featured artist, Colleen, is a truly beautiful woman, emmercing herself in making the world a better place every day for so many kids. She is currently helping prepare the students for a production this upcoming spring, so be sure to follow Boundless Arts Performance Collective on Facebook for all the up-to-date information.
