13 Mintues with Malia Elizabeth Zurcher
Photographing the artists of Boundless Arts Performance Collective
As I write this seventh feature in the Boundless Arts Performance Collective series, Malia Elizabeth Zurcher, a big smile has taken up permanent residence on my face.
Malia is the new Outreach Director at BAPC and she is darling, sweet, fun, giggly, sincere and to me a princess that stepped straight out of a Disney fairy tale. With this, she reminds me of my five nieces I love very much and so, of course, Malia captured my heart straight away.
She met BAPC founder and former Executive Director, Javonna Arriaga, and Artistic Director, Katherine Bicknell in school. Soon thereafter Malia auditioned for their first production “Sarah Was Here” written by current Executive Director and playwright, Zoe Barker-Aderem, and got the part. “[I] just loved the company and all that they did so much that I jumped at the chance to be Outreach Director. Boundless reminds me of how amazing theatre is and how much it can do to bring people together and I love being part of that! It’s amazing to see how much confidence and power it gives the kids involved.”
Her work with youth will not stop with her new position at Boundless. This young, bright star has found that her core passion is working with kids and plans on continuing to become a teacher and . I know she will succeed and achieve in all that she sets out to do!
