1 Minute and 52 Seconds with Jon Schiereck
Photographing Men of MotoAmerica 2015
Jon Schiereck: race bike technician
While in Braselton, GA. at Road Atlanta race track, I had some down time during my shoots with AMA Pro Rider, Huntley Nash, to capture some classic and iconic portraits inside the pit of different men. Some were of other riders, some of their sons, and some of race bike technician Jon Schiereck who built Huntley’s custom Ducati 1199 Panigale.
Trying to capture Jon’s portrait at work is near impossible as I’ve never known another man who works as hard as he does; he remains continuously busy the entire day while working at the track – he doesn’t stop moving. Additionally, he’s never allowed me to take his portrait, so this was a big-deal-moment for me. As soon as he had a few seconds to spare, I had him sit in my simple pop-up studio inside the crew tent: two black velvet curtains as an “L” corner backdrop with natural light.
Sometimes you don’t have an entire day or hours to photograph someone who’s time is limited. Sometimes you literally have only seconds. Love how they turned out:

Quick gear note for my fellow photographers: I used my gear straight out of my Think Tank Photo Airport AirStream™ Rolling Camera Bag and BlackRapid Kick Women’s Sling Camera Strap RS2SW1S (Grey) for this shoot.
My post-processing is all done in Lightroom 4 using my own custom recipes made with Totally Rad!’s Lightroom Presets, Totally Rad!’s Replichrome I: Icons, with a final polish in Photoshop CS5 using more custom special sauce with Totally Rad!’s Pro Retouch + TR Action Mix 1 + TR Action Mix 2: The Revenge.
